The Tokyo Single from XO, to be released digitally December 15th on Jackie Darling, is a unique 8-song collection containing three remixes of the track “My Beautiful Girl (Tokyo),” originally available on their early 2009 debut EP titled Some Day. The heavily eclectic remixes come from a dynamic range of producers and artists such as Pocket (Radiohead, Beck, Robyn Hitchcock), Rory Phillips (Recover, The Higher), and fellow Say Anything band-mate Parker Case (I and the Universe).

XO – “The Tokyo Single”
Zack Martin – “The Way We Get By” (Original Score)
“Written by breakout Zack Martin, these songs are profoundly humane, and unfailingly modest… Not only do Martin’s songs and score stand alone, but they carry the profound emotional depth of film.”
- Death & Taxes
The Cancer Conspiracy – “Omega”
“The production from Matt Squire is (once again) fantastic, expertly capturing the dynamics, complexity and subtleties of the band and there are some really great guitar overdubs and atmospherics that make this a record made to be listened to on high quality headphones.”
- ‘Tim’, Amazon review
The Bronze Episode – “Son Coeur Son Corps”
“The mixture of classic
al strings and pianos with drum and bass, and added layers of gorgeous, subtle programming makes for a mesmeri zing, almost, out of body experience. They have debuted with a 4 song concept EP, Son Coeur Son Corps, that’s utterly amazing, and ultimately unfulfilling, if only for the lack of material after track four closes. I’ll take a full length or two from these guys with my coffee please.”
- Decoy Music
Metroid – “Outside it’s the End of the World”
“The instrumentation is key, as it provides the contrast these vocals desperately need. Unlike most electronic bands, Metroid doesn’t let them overpower their music; a delicate balance has been struck between the electronics and standard instruments, and they do well not to upset it. “I’m On the List” is the most driven track of the EP. The first verse bursts into the chorus with a flourish, and the effect is marvelous.”
